Copy Packages "Up"??
Hello I have a package copy question. My SCCM heiarchy is a Central Site and 2 Primary Child sites. One of the Primary children is where all of the packages have been delegated to be created and maintained. The Central Site was installed after this Primary Child, or, the Primary child was made a child of the central site after all of these packages had been created. How can I copy the packages "up" to the central site for use in other child sites? Thanks for any insights.

You can't. At least not easily. Packages flow down not up. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|

John is right packages and other objects always replicate down. You can however configure the central site as a child site. This will start a replication of all packages (collections and other objects). After that, you can configure the site as a central site again. I'm not saying it's easy, but it can be done.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/ | The Danish community for System Center products

I had thought about doing the central/child swap during lunch, but didn’t know of other affects that kind of thing might have. Other than the obvious hierarchy changes, would there be any other big considerations for performing the swap temporarily to just get the packages copied? Thanks for the replies.

I'd never change that in a hierarchy just for copying packages. www.1E.com has got a free package export/import tool.

I would use the free 1E tools, get the packages on the central and create all packages at the central from now on. John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum/|
